velodrome imageCalshot has the only indoor banked velodrome in the South of England. This  national standard track was built in 1997 and can be used by a wide range of  cyclists from novices to international standard. As long as you can ride a bike you can have a go under the watchful eye of a coach.

Tour de Calshot’
5 Stages - you choose how many you do!

Cycling on Calshot velodrome couldn’t be easier. We offer five levels of progression, from the ‘have a go’ first timer, through to race ready track rider.
However far you choose to go, everyone’s a WINNER!

Check out our route…

‘Tour de Calshot’ is designed to take you as far as you want to go. Our coaches will help you acquire the skills needed at each level. Some of you may even want to try your hand racing in the Calshot Winter Track League.

Whatever you choose we can promise you’ll have loads of fun and great memories to take away!

* Stage One - Taster sessions

Excellent fun for people wanting to try the track. All abilities are catered for, you just need to be able to ride a bike. * Stage Two - Introduction To Group Riding

For those cyclists who have had a taster session in the last 12 months and would like to be introduced to riding the track with others. The aim is to bring riders up to the level required for the Thursday track training sessions. The first session will be learning to ride in close proximity to others and the second will look at some advanced drills.

GAS follows the Introduction To Group Riding course, providing a ‘stepping stone’ to our Thursday Track Training (see below) Typically, the sessions will include warm up, stamina-building exercises and simple sprint drills. They are a perfect opportunity to see what track training is about. They're not compulsory, but recommended for those wanting to go onto track training sessions.

* Stages Four and Five - Indoor Track Training

Tuesdays & Thursdays 19.00 - 21.00
£12 per session with own bike, £15 including bike hire.

Please note that Track Training has ceased for the summer months and will return in Autumn 2008

These provide an exciting introduction to track training and racing. As well as being fun these sessions will increase fitness, build strength and endurance, increase leg speed, improve bike handling skills and much more. For cyclists used to riding the track as part of a group.

Stage Four
Thursday is aimed at less experienced track cyclists

Stage Five
Tuesday sessions will be run as more demanding sessions, often including interval work and some ‘race-orientated’ drills.

Cyclists can attend either or both but need to be aware of the main emphasis and relative intensity of the particular session.

Group Bookings and Club Training

The velodrome is available for hire to groups and clubs during evenings and weekends. You may bring a cycle coach or arrange for one of ours.
