The Calshot Velodrome

Calshot has the only indoor banked velodrome in the South of England. This national standard track was built in 1997 and can be used by a wide range of  cyclists from novices to international standard. As long as you can ride a bike you can have a go under the watchful eye of a coach.

Track cycling is the fastest growing branch of the sport, due in major part to the successes which the Great Britain squad has enjoyed at World Championship and Olympic levels over the last few years. If you need further convincing, just think...

"lightweight bikes, no wind, no rain and no cars!"'

Three 90-minute sessions teach the basics of track riding, before introducing "through and off" (team pursuit drill) and sprint work. It's the perfect platform for those in a hurry!

Stages Four and Five - Indoor Track Training

Tuesdays & Thursdays 19.00 - 21.00
£14 per session with own bike, £18 including bike hire.
Please note that Track Training will start 6 October 2009

Enjoy your winter training!
These sessions provide an exciting alternative to suffering in the wind, rain and darkness, that is winter riding.

As well as being fun these sessions will increase fitness, build strength and endurance, increase leg speed, improve bike handling skills and much more.
For cyclists used to riding the track as part of a group.

Stage Four
Thursday is aimed at less experienced track cyclists. Cyclists who have recently attended the GAS sessions, will be guided by the coach towards these sessions.

Stage Five
Tuesday sessions will be run as more demanding sessions, often including interval work and some ‘race-orientated’ drills. These are intense sessions where advanced physical fitness needs to be matched by the rider's speed of thought and reactions. Riders with limited track training experience are strongly recommended to attend Thursday sessions before moving on to these sessions.

Cyclists can attend either or both but need to be aware of the main emphasis and relative intensity of the particular session.

All sessions must be booked in advance. Our policy is to check on take-up at 1300hrs on the day preceding the session.
