Field Data on the Cadland to Calshot CoastlineAll the following information was collected by students engaged in field investigations at Calshot Activities Centre Basic techniques were used to collect the data - tape measures, clinometers, metre rulers etc. No claim is made for the accuracy of the data, but it represents conditions that prevailed at the time. Wave energy was measured by recording wave height and wave frequency, calculating wave length and, from that, energy. Beach profiles were measured using ranging poles, clinometers and tape measures to record each break of slope. Trigonometrical methods were used to investigate cliff height, and pebble sizes were investigated by measuring the long axis length of 100 pebbles at each point.
