Jack Maynard Bursary Fund
The Jack Maynard Bursary Fund is intended to support local young people who may not otherwise be able to afford to come to Calshot Activities Centre. The fund was initially set up through a bequest from the late Chris Ewers, a past Chairman of the Calshot Association and is named in honour of Jack Maynard who had the unusual distinction of serving the County Council as both a member and officer. On retirement in 1980, he became the elected member for Fawley, where he served until 1997. During this period, he spent two terms as Chairman of the County Council: 1987-88 and 1993-94. He also had great interest in recreational matters, and was a great supporter of Calshot Activities Centre. Jack Maynard died at the age of 82 in January 2002 Who is eligible? It is not the intention to exclude other applications and Hampshire young people wishing to attend a course at Calshot Activities Centre but not meeting the above criteria may also apply. However, any support is solely at the discretion of the Fund’s administrators. How much can I apply for? How to apply? Who can I use as a referee? The Jack Maynard Bursary Fund
